Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Mini Recorder UK collects when you visit minirecorder.co.uk, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it. We are the data controller for that information.

Information you give us

When you place an order we collect your name, billing and delivery address, email address and telephone number. When you contact us or subscribe to our emails, we collect your name and email address and whatever you choose to write to us.

We do not receive or store your full payment card number. Card details are entered directly with our payment providers.

Information collected automatically

When you browse this website, we and our service providers automatically collect device and browsing data: your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, the pages you view, how long you spend on them, what you clicked, and the website or advertisement that referred you.

This is collected through cookies and similar technologies placed in your browser. We use it to keep the site working (remembering your basket, keeping you logged in), to understand which pages and products people find useful, and to measure whether our advertising is reaching the right people.

Cookies and marketing platforms

We use the following categories of cookie:

  • Strictly necessary โ€” set by Shopify, our ecommerce platform, to run the basket and checkout and to keep the site secure. These cannot be switched off.
  • Analytics โ€” Shopify Analytics and Google Analytics, which tell us how many people visit, which pages they read and where they leave. This is reported to us in aggregate.
  • Advertising and measurement โ€” Google Ads and Google Merchant Center. These let us measure whether someone who clicked one of our ads went on to buy, and allow us to show relevant ads to people who have visited the site. Google may set its own cookies and combine this with data it already holds about you under its own privacy policy.
  • Email marketing โ€” if you subscribe, our email provider records whether you opened a message or clicked a link, so we can stop sending to people who are not interested.

You can refuse or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google's advertising cookies at google.com/settings/ads. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop checkout working.

Why we are allowed to use your data

We process order and delivery information because it is necessary to perform our contract with you. We process analytics and advertising data on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. We keep records of transactions because we are legally required to for tax purposes.

Who we share it with

We share your information only with the providers who make the shop work: Shopify (hosting and checkout), our payment providers, Royal Mail (delivery), our email provider, and Google (analytics and advertising measurement). Each processes it on our instructions. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

We may disclose information where we are legally required to, for example in response to a lawful request from a public authority.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept for six years to meet UK tax and accounting requirements. Marketing contacts are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained on our providers' standard schedules, typically 14 to 26 months.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have your data erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. You can also withdraw consent for marketing at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.

To exercise any of these, email support@minirecorder.co.uk. We will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

This website is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our shop changes. The version on this page is always the current one.
